Sarnia Fire and Rescue said crews were called to Jackson Road, near Telfer Road.
Firefighters were quick to "knock down the flames" and prevent it from spreading to the connected trailer, read a Facebook post.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
At 4:38 p.m. Sarnia Fire and Rescue said crews were expected to clear the scene shortly.
The latest development comes after multiple reports from media in Canada and the U.S. saying there would be a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday.
The webpage, called Cycling in Essex, was developed in consultation with Share the Road, a local advocacy group of cyclists in the region.
The police services board announced this morning that Kenneth Cribley will assume the role.
The suspect faces 11 charges.
