Huron County's Economic Development Board has passed one hurdle. It has survived the challenges of its first year of operation, and is ready to move forward.
Board Chair Jim Lynn explains most of the members are from the private sector and they had to learn how things worked in the public sector.
He points to the collaborative planning effort between the county and its nine partner municipalities as one of the highlights of the first year. He believes the lines of communication that were developed in that process will continue to provide benefits.
Lynn adds the process also encouraged the municipalities to look at other partnerships or sharing services where possible, and he believes there will be more partnerships in the future.
Lynn also repeated his phrase that "hope is not a strategy without vision and action".
He says too often we hope that some external force will enter the picture and produce results, but he says that rarely happens without a vision of what success looks like and then a measurable action plan.
