Semi-annual reports of the 'little' items that city money is being spent on will come back to council for future consideration.
The motion was brought forward by councillor Cindy Scholten Monday.
She believes that some of the items that would need to be preapproved by council are flower arrangements and ordering of newspapers.
Scholten says that the total of these expenses adds up over time.
"Can you imagine the relations that every councillor has with members of community, if we were all sending out flower arrangements and baskets to people we care about or that supported us, we'd be spending tens of thousands of dollars."
Councillor Mike Kelch asked that the semi-annual report include who and how many councillors could go to conferences across the nation.
Mayor Mike Bradley asked if this motion would 'micro-manage' his office, Scholten declined that accusation.
