The average Leamington resident will pay $67.13 more next year on their tax bill.
The total tax levy on the municipality is set at $41.8-million, including both the general and sewer levies, a 2.5 per cent increase from 2025.
Leamington Mayor Hilda MacDonald said the increase is mostly due to inflationary pressures and contractual obligations that maintain service levels.
"With union negotiations you have to expect an increase, the cost of services, cost of materials also impact us, cost of utilities, gas, all of that impacts a municipality as it does any household," said MacDonald.
There were $79 million of capital projects approved for 2026. Those include the North East Trunk Sanitary Sewer Project, Seacliff Drive East reconstruction, and waterfront parking and plaza improvements.
“This budget reflects our commitment to supporting a strong, vibrant, and resilient Leamington. It invests in the infrastructure and services our growing community needs while keeping costs fair for residents. We are strengthening the high quality of life we enjoy today and ensuring it continues for generations to come,” said MacDonald.
