River rescue prompts driving warning from LaSalle police

LaSalle police have reminded drivers about the pitfalls of winter driving, after a driver was rescued this week.

Police and LaSalle firefighters were called at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday to a report of a vehicle driven into River Canard.

The driver had lost control of the pickup truck and it veered into the river. No one was hurt.

Drivers are being reminded to operate their vehicles according to the road conditions. With snow or ice, it is important to slow down and allow plenty of stopping distance.

Police have also suggested taking a few minutes before setting out to thoroughly clear your vehicle of any snow, ice, or other debris. Windows, mirrors, and the hood should be clear.
