U of Windsor names new provost

The University of Windsor has named its next provost and vice-president of academics.

The school has appointed Dr. Barbara Crow to the position.

"Dr. Crow brings a remarkable combination of academic leadership, research excellence, and deep commitment to students and community," said University of Windsor President Dr. J.J. McMurtry. "Her experience, insight, and vision make her exceptionally well-suited to help guide our academic priorities and advance the work we are doing in teaching, research, and student experience. We are incredibly fortunate to welcome her to UWindsor."

As the chief academic officer, Crow will be responsible for areas including research, student experience, teaching and learning, international development, and library sciences.

"I am very excited about the possibilities and opportunities to serve and lead as provost at the University of Windsor," said Crow in a media release. "UWindsor's deep roots in this community, its commitment to student success, and the strength of its research and teaching make it a place where I know meaningful work gets done. I look forward to building on that foundation alongside faculty, staff, alumni, and students."

Before joining U of W, Crow was the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen's University. She also previously worked at York University as the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Associate Vice-President of Graduate, Associate Dean of Research, and Director of the Graduate Program in Communication and Culture.

Crow's new job takes effect on July 1.
