Beef Farmers of Ontario says it looks like there were more second cut or over thirty months fed heifers on offer in the province last week.
The average fed heifer price was down over $4 from the previous week, although it was still more than $41 higher than a year ago.
Fed steers were up .70 cents from the previous week, over $53 dollars higher than last year.
BFO reports Ontario rail grade prices averaged more than $76 dollars higher than they were a year ago.
With the winding down of fall stocker sales the volume of replacement cattle at provincial auction markets is dropping.
Just under 7,000 were sold across Ontario last week which is down about 1,100 from the previous week, over 2,100 fewer than a year ago.
Steers ranged from over 19 dollars lower to almost $14 higher, depending on weight category.
Replacement heifer classes ranged from just over $21 lower to 1.36 higher than the previous week.
