Olymel says it's been forced to cancel deliveries of nearly 23 thousand hogs a week from Ontario.
The company blames the strike which has shut down it's slaughterhouse and butchering plant in the Beauce in Quebec.
That plant has the capacity to handle 35 thousand pigs a week.
While Olymel has had to cancel deliveries of Ontario hogs, the company says it's been able to limit adverse consequences for Quebec producers by working with other industry partners.
However, Olymel says the cancelling of those Ontario deliveries could threaten a full resumption of work at the Quebec plant even if it were to resume operations.
The 1 thousand unionized workers at the plant are on strike.
The company says it is also going to be laying off nearly 50 non-union employees at the plant because of the strike.
