Deal To Make Selling Cattle To Turkey Easier

Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz has secured a deal to open the Turkish market for Canadian breeding cattle.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada says the industry has identified Turkey as a priority market for new access for Canadian dairy and beef cattle exports.

Industry estimates put the value of that market at about 4 point 5 million dollars a year.

The Turkey deal was announced as part of Ritz's attendance at the G20 Ministerial Agricultural Meeting in that country.

The 20 members at that meeting adopted a joint communique supporting information sharing on agricultural technologies and markets.
