Surplus Farmhouse Issue Gets Another Airing In Perth County

Landowners who may want to sell surplus farmhouses will finally get their chance to speak directly to the Perth County council members.

Hundreds of homes in Perth County fall into that category as a result of farm consolidation.

The issue has been the subject of heated debate between farmers and the county administration.

Currently Perth County landowners are prohibited from selling surplus residences for fear of the impact on agricultural operations in the region.

Interested parties are invited to attend a public input meeting that is scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m. June 23rd at the Sebringville Community Centre.

“The previous council had committed to holding a public meeting when the five year review official plan came up on surplus farmhouse severances so with that commitment made by previous council we decided at that time to hold a public meeting to discuss this matter further.” Perth County Warden Robert Wilhelm told CKNX News.
