U-S Farmers Taking Advantage Of Good Weather

American farmers have pulled well ahead of the five-year average for planting this spring.

The USDA's latest Crop Progress Report says 75 per cent of the corn has been planted.

The five year average is 57 per cent.

31 per cent of the U-S soybean crop is in the ground, compared to the 20 per cent average.

And the 87 per cent of the spring wheat crop planted is 36 points better than the five year average for this time of the year.

The U-S-D-A is also reporting a slight improvement in the condition of the winter wheat crop.

It's now at 44 per cent good to excellent - up a point from last year - 14 points better than a year ago.
