BFO Continues Push For Northern Ontario Cow Herd Expansion

Beef Farmers of Ontario reps made the rounds at Queen's Park this week - thanking politicians for help on a couple of fronts and pushing for more help on another.

BFO Directors and staff thanked MPP's for their support in maintaining the provincial Risk Management Program for farmers and the recently announced improvements to the individual loan limits under the Ontario Feeder Cattle Loan Guarantee Program.

They also talked about plans for expanding the cow herd in Northern Ontario.

President Bob Gordanier says that expansion is needed to sustain the province's beef industry.

He says BFO is going to need collaboration among all contributing government ministries to make it work.

Those various meetings were part of a full day in Toronto for BFO - a day which included their 11th annual Queen's Park Barbecue for over 600 people on the south lawn of the provincial legislature.
