U-S hog slaughter last week was up over 14 per cent from the week before and up almost 6 per cent from a year ago.
The University of Missouri's Ron Plain says last Thursday's negotiated carcass price for plant delivered hogs averaged $78.60 per hundredweight.
That's down 94 cents on the week .
Plain reports U-S domestic pork demand was up 2 per cent in April - the 28th consecutive month with domestic demand higher than a year earlier.
U-S pork export demand, however, was 10 per cent lower in April.
