Looking For Hosts For 2016 Children's Safety Events

The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association wants to keep growing it's Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program.

Over 10 thousand children and participants have taken part in one of the 46 safety days already held in Canada this year.

There are 27 more planned later this year, including events in Teeswater and Varna.

CASA Executive Director Marcel Hacault says it's encouraging to see so many people interested in keeping children safe, with over 17 hundred volunteers already participating in the program.

Safety Day event topics are based on each community's individual needs.

They feature interactive stations teaching children to recognize and think about topics like tractor safety, fire safety and animal safety.

Canadian Agricultural Injury reporting says an average of 10 children die each year on Canadian farms.

Communities can apply to host a Safety Day in 2016 by applying through the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association's website.

The deadline to apply is July 15th.
