General Farm Organisations All Re-Accredited

The re-accreditation process for Ontario's three general farm organisations went a lot smoother this year.

Last time around, all three were at first rejected by the OMAFRA Appeal Tribunal and the Agriculture Minister had to modify the criteria for the three to finally get their renewals.

This time, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario and National Farmers Union Ontario all received their three year re-accreditations without any significant hiccups.

All three of those re-accreditations will run from December of this year through to December of 2018.

Based on information provided to the Tribunal, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture has over 36 thousand farm business members in 52 local branches across the province.

The CFFO reports just over 4 thousand farm business supporters in 21 branches.

And the National Farmers Union Ontario has about 13 hundred farm business supporters in 19 branches across Ontario.

Each Ontario farm business can select which of those three general farm organisations will receive it's annual $195 registration fee.

That fee also gives the operation a Farm Business Registration number confirming it is recognized by the government as a registered farm business in Ontario.
