Cargill Limited officials say this move demonstrates the company's confidence in the continued growth and competitiveness of the Canadian canola industry.
The company has opened it's first canola refinery in Canada - a new plant in Saskatchewan.
It's also Cargill's largest refinery in North America.
The Saskatchewan plant has the capacity to refine one billion pounds of canola oil a year.
Spokesman Scott Portnoy says the plant means Cargill's footprint in Canada's canola industry now runs from the creating of special seed breeding right through to oil refining.
The Saskatchewan plan includes 30 new jobs for the region.
