A large agri-business is changing it's community investment policy and the Chatham-Kent School nutrition program will be the first recipient of a $5,000 donation.
The President and Business Director of Dupont Pioneer Canada - Bryce Eger - says there will be more because the company looks for ways to help in communities where it operates.
"We started digging into opportunities in the market place and where the dollars could really be used and given the biggest benefits and were really surprised at the number of children that do not get enough nourishment," he says. "Children and the next generation, they are the ones that are going to keep agriculture healthy, we need to make sure we are providing them with the best start to every day."
Eger says any school nutrition program can speak to any Pioneer seed sales representative about support.
Training equipment for fire-fighters was the previous community support and over three years Pioneer donated $300,000 to various fire services.
The designating nutrition programs as Pioneer's main community support starts in January and at this point it hasn't decided if it will be a one year commitment or longer.
