Cattlemen's Group Calls TPP 'Game-Changer'

The president of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association calls the TPP a game-changer for this country's beef industry.

Dave Solverson says Canada will now get the same preferential access to TPP country markets like Japan that Australian and American producers have had.

The CCA says reduced tariffs in Japan could double or triple Canada's annual beef exports to Japan to nearly 300 million dollars.

Tariffs will also be reduced in Vietnam and Malaysia - two countries that have not been traditional beef consumers - but which have been identified by the CCA as potentially important in the future as their level of economic development increases.
