American farmers are running ahead of average on their soybean harvest but behind on their corn.
The USDA says 42 per cent of the beans are off, 27 per cent of the corn.
That's 10 points ahead of the five year average for soybeans, 5 points behind for corn.
The department's latest Crop Progress Report has the corn at 68 per cent good to excellent.
That's the same as last week - 6 points behind last year at this time.
Soybeans are rated 64 per cent good to excellent - up 2 points on the week, 9 points behind last year.
U-S growers are running pretty close to the five year average with their winter wheat planting at 49 per cent completed against the 51 per cent average.
20 per cent of the wheat has emerged.
The five year average for this time of the year is 22 per cent.
