OFA Initiative To Teach Young People Nutritious Meal Prep

The Ontario Federation of Agriculture has launched a new initiative to help young people make healthy food choices.

It's a new food literacy program called Six by Sixteen.

The goal is to teach young people how to plan and prepare six nutritious meals by the time they're 16 years old.

The initiative includes an online hub of resources for parents, health professionals and young teens to promote local food and healthy food choices.

OFA President Don McCabe says when we teach our children to make good food choices, we prepare them for a lifetime of health.

Ontario Agriculture Minister Jeff Leal says this kind of industry initiative is a positive way to create awareness of both healthy eating and the good things that grow in Ontario.

The Six by Sixteen initiative is being launched as part of Ontario Agriculture Week, which wraps up on Sunday.
