Ontario veal farmers have a new tool to monitor their markets.
The new Veal Market Report smartphone app is available for Apple and Android phones and for the BlackBerry Z30.
It allows producers to monitor current Ontario market prices and trends by providing up-to-date weekly market information.
That information comes from live sales from auction market data electronically submitted to Beef Farmers of ONtario and direct sales reported by packers to Veal Farmers of Ontario.
VFO's Kendra Keels calls it a tool to help producers make critical decisions with the most current information.
A second phase of the app - to be launched this winter - will include graphs to allow producers to see trends over time.
Keels says the market report will continue to be available in it's current format on the VFO website as well as by e-mail and fax.
The new Veal Market Report app is a partnership of Veal Farmers of Ontario and Farms.com.
