USDA Lowers 2015 U-S Beef, Pork Production Estimates

The USDA reports it's November total meat production forecasts for 2015 and 16 remain much the same as in October.

Beef production both years is lowered in slower expected marketings from feedlots into early next year, partly offset by higher expected carcass weights.

U-S pork production is lowered this year on a slower expected pace of slaughter and slightly lighter carcass weights.

Those lower numbers are largely made up for by increased poultry production forecasts.

The department left it's 2016 pork production estimates unchanged.

It's also left it's cattle and hog price forecasts unchanged.

Steers are expected to average 149.19 this year, from 136 to 147 per hundredweight next year.

Barrows and gilts are expected to average 50.82 this year and from 47-50 dollars per hundredweight next year.
