The Top Five Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Excellence Awards were handed out this week.
VG Meats of Simcoe won the Premier's Award for its customized training program in meat processing and retail operations.
The Minister's Award went to Clear Valley Hops of Collingwood for developing an efficient process to produce unique, high-quality hops that reduces the time from harvest to freezing to 24 hours.
The three Leaders In Innovation Awards went to Celmar Dairy of Norwich, Durham Foods of Port Perry and Vineland Estates Winery of Vineland.
Celmar won for it's custom forage transfer and storage system.
Durham Foods for it's user-friendly food safety app.
And Vineland Estates Winery for Canada's first optical grape sorter.
Those awards were handed out at this week's annual Premier's Summit on Agri-Food.
