GBFW 2016 - Strong Attendance - Until The Storms Hit

Organizers of Grey Bruce Farmers' week in Elmwood are once again celebrating a successful show.

The event is put on by Grey County Agricultural Services.

Coordinator Lorie Smith says attendance the first four days was as good as ever.

"We had the best attendance on Beef Day for ten years, highest on record that I have for Dairy Day, highest on record for Goat Day, Sheep Day was strong, the strongest for the past threes years," said Smith.

The weather put a bit of damper on the last three days.

Smith wants to thank all the farmers, exhibitors and speakers alike, who braved the storms and made it out, especially Monday.

"We had 55 producers in attendance, all my speakers got here and most of the exhibitors got here which blew me away cause almost at 4:30 in the morning made the decision to cancel but I'm glad that we actually went ahead."

Smith says she now starts organizing for next year's Farmers' Week.

The keynote speakers have to be booked by February or March.
