Former Ag Minister, Huron MPP Chairs New Farm Mutual

A former provincial agriculture minister is the first chair of the new Heartland Farm Mutual Incorporated.

Heartland was formed by the merger of North Waterloo Farmers Mutual and Oxford Mutual.

Helen Johns was elected chair at the new company's first board meeting earlier this month.

She was the MPP for Huron Bruce from 1995 to 2003, including a stint as Ontario Agriculture Minister.

Johns has been on the North Waterloo Farmers Mutual board for ten years, most recently serving as chair.

The former CEO of North Waterloo Farmers Mutual - Carlos Rodrigues - is the CEO of the new company.

Heartland Farm Mutual has offices in Waterloo and Thamesford.
