The Board of Directors of the Beef Farmers of Ontario elected their new President and Vice President at the BFO's 54th Annual General Meeting.

Matt Bowman, Northern Director from Thornloe will lead the Association in the year ahead as President with Joe Hill, Feedlot Director from Fergus as Vice President.

Bowman has been a Director on the board for seven years representing Northern Ontario. He and his wife Elaine operate a Charolais based cow-calf operation with 110 cows, they also cash crop 700 acres of oats, wheat, barley and canola. To round out their operation they also have an expanding pick your own strawberry patch in the summer months.

Bowman says he's focused on addressing the gaps in programs that will support the expansion of the beef herd in the province.

Joe Hill has served on the board for five years. He and his wife Jennifer and two children run a 200 head, short-keep feedlot operation in Centre Wellington near Fergus and Elora. In addition, they also manage 800 acres of owned and rented land in corn, soybeans and wheat.

Tom Wilson will return to the Board of Directors. Wilson of Lambton County was acclaimed to the position of Feedlot Director for a three-year term, a position he has held for six years.

BFO Board of Directors and staff welcomed over 400 attendees at this year's AGM.
