A Dry Spring Expected

There are predictions of a drier spring.

While temperatures are expected to above normal through March, April and May, precipitation is expected to be below normal.

Nadine Powell is a meteorologist with the Weather Network and says the lack of moisture could be a concern.

“What we’re seeing is most of the storm tracks will stay further off to the east, toward Atlantic Canada,” says Powell. "So it seems we may be a bit drier than normal."

This winter has had very little snowpack and that will add to the lack of water source.

“Temperatures are expected to be above seasonal for us across the Great Lakes. And it’s not just for us here in Ontario, but that trend it seems will extend all the way across to much of the praries and into western Canada.”

Southern Ontario, southwest Quebec, Saskatchewan and Alberta will be most affected by the drier climate.
