The U-S inventory of hogs and pigs March 1st was up slightly from a year ago.
The USDA says the total inventory came in at 67 point 6 million head.
Breeding inventory was down slightly from last year, market hog inventory up slightly from a year ago.
The December to February pig crop was also down slightly from the same period in 2015.
U-S producers intend to have 2 point 84 million sows farrow in the March to May quarter - 2 point 91 million for the June to August quarter.
The March to May farrowing intentions are down 1 per cent from last year's actual farrowings while the June to August intentions are down 3 per cent from 2015.
