GFO: Helping SciBabe Bust Food Myths

This month, Grain Farmers of Ontario has been working with Yvette d'Entremont, better known as the SciBabe, a popular science blogger who tackles hoaxes and anti-science fads on the internet. She spoke at this year's March Classic, sharing her "10 Rules to Bust Food Myths" with the conference's 750-plus attendees. While she was in the province, Yvette appeared on several media outlets, primarily talking about food myths.

On March 21, Yvette appeared on the Siriux XM radio show 'Dishing With DeMontis' to talk about cleanses and the gluten-free fad. After the March Classic conference, she made appearances on TVO's The Agenda and CTV's The Social. The first installment of Yvette's appearances on the Agenda aired on Monday, March 28 at 8pm with two more to follow.

Grain Farmers of Ontario's Good in Every Grain program also held a blogging event with the SciBabe in Toronto on March 23. The Good in Every Grain campaign allows Grain Farmers of Ontario to raise awareness and forge connections with the public. Representatives from Grain Farmers of Ontario along with Yvette educated attendees on the organization and the end uses of Ontario grains in food. Bloggers were given the opportunity to ask questions and have them answered. Clips will be posted at www.goodineverygrain.ca as they become available.
