CFFO Calls Government's Waste Free Strategy 'Ambitious'

The Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario sees benefits for agriculture in the emphasis on a waste-free Ontario.

The CFFO recently made a submission in the consultations on the government's Draft Strategy for a Waste Free Ontario - Building the Circular Economy.

The submission calls it an ambitious strategy.

The CFFO points out farmers understand the value and efficiency when resources can be used and re-used in a cyclical, rather than a linear, wasteful fashion.

According to its submission, the CFFO believes farmers will play a key role in ensuring more organic 'wastes; are not wasted, but re-used as beneficial resources.

The provincial farm group says organic wastes have the potential to build soils and by cycled back into enriching the quality of our food system.

The CFFO is encouraging the province to establish standards for post-processing of organic waste materials for further use, especially for farmers, as part of it's overall waste-free strategy.
