A push to allow migrant workers to move more easily between jobs now has the support of the National Farmers Union.
The Mobility, Voice and Equality for Migrant Workers campaign has been organised by the Coalition for Migrant Workers Rights - Canada.
NFU Board member Reg Phelan suggests the way Canada currently stops migrant workers from changing jobs increases their vulnerability to discrimination.
Phelan says that includes lower pay and unsafe working conditions.
The NFU also argues allowing migrant workers to change jobs and offering them permanent resident status will improve the quality of jobs and improve fairness for ethical employers who do not cut corners.
