China Export Deals Could Boost Ontario Agrifood Exports

Some new agreements signed this week in China will have potential impacts for Ontario's agriculture and agrifood sectors.

The signings are part of a provincial government-led mission to China that runs through to May 4th.

A Memorandum of Understanding with COFCO Trading involves collaborative relationships in the areas of research and development and technological innovation.

COFCO is China's leading supplier of agri-products, diversified foodstuffs and services.

COFCO Winds and Spirits also signed a 10 year deal with Joseph's Estate Wines to bring more Ontario ice wine to China.

And Wing On New Group Canada Inc. and Americo International Commodity E-Commerce Warehouse have committed to purchasing Ontario food products and household goods.

Provincial Agriculture Minister Jeff Leal says these deals are part of the government's efforts to find new export opportunities for Ontario's robust food and beverage sector.
