Two Conservative MPP's have expressed concern about the influence the provincial environment ministry is having on agricultural policy.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson criticized the Minister of Environment and Climate change this week for his suggestion people not eat meat one day a week.
The Minister had suggested that could help ease greenhouse gas emissions from beef production.
Thompson pointed out a recent report shows a decrease in methane, nitrous dioxide and carbon dioxide from the cattle industry over the past 30 years.
Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett then asked why OMAFRA didn't get the budgeted green investment fund.
He says Beef Farmers of Ontario and the Ontario Federation of Agriculture have both put forward practical , do-able climate change proposals.
That drew a response from Agriculture Minister Jeff Leal - who suggested Barrett wait until the plan is unveiled, promising there will be something substantial for Ontario agriculture in the final plan.
