Global food prices were up slightly in April from March.
The U-N's Food and Agriculture Organisation Food Price Index posted a 0 point 7 per cent increase.
However, the FAO points out the April index was almost 10 per cent below where it was a year ago.
Prices were higher in April for vegetable oils and cereals - lower for dairy and sugar.
The FAO's vegetable index was up 4 point 1 per cent, cereals up 1 point 5 per cent and meat up 0 point 8 per cent.
Despite the cereals index increase, the U-N organisation reports that index is still down 10 point 4 per cent from a year ago.
The dairy price index was down 2 point 2 per cent and the sugar index was down 1 point 7 per cent from March.
