Canadian live hog exports to the U-S are up almost 8 per cent so far this year from a year ago.
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada reports feeder pig shipments are up over 12 per cent while barrow, gilt and sow exports are down just over 8 per cent.
Federal hog slaughter so far this year is running 2 point 7 per cent ahead of last year.
Last week's weekly Ontario average hog price of 213.51 was up almost 5 and a half per cent from a year ago.
University of Missouri's Ron Plain says the U-S national negotiated barrow and gilt price averaged just over 73 dollars on Friday - up 1.61 from the week before but down over 5 dollars from a year ago.
U-S hog slaughter was down almost 13 per cent from the week before - keeping in mind it was a short week because of the Memorial Day holiday.
The American slaughter volume was down about 10 and a half per cent from a year ago.
