The prices Canadian farmers got for their products in March was down from a year ago.
The 0 point 8 per cent drop was the second year-over-year decrease in the index in the past four months.
Statistics Canada says the livestock and animal products part of the index was down 7 and a half per cent.
That was led by an over 16 per cent drop in cattle and calf prices.
Prices for supply-managed products also dropped - just over 4 per cent for eggs, almost 4 per cent for dairy and about 2 and a half per cent for poultry.
All those were moderated by a 10 point 2 per cent increase in the hog index.
Statscan says the March crops index went up 6 point 5 per cent with all crops posting year-over-year gains.
