NFU-O Says Climate Plan Regs Critical For Farmers

The National Farmers Union Ontario commends the province for developing Ontario's Climate Change Action Plan.

President Emery Huszka says his organisation has long recognized the important role farmers of all sizes can play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Ontario.

He also points out improved soil health has a role in sequestering carbon.

However, Huszka says the regulations that need to be developed under that plan will be critical to how it affects agriculture.

The NFU-O argues those regulations must insure that farms of all sizes have the funding needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Huszka says his organisation feels the government plan has specific, measurable actions and allocates the funding needed to support them.
