American farmers planted more corn and soybeans this year.
The USDA says corn planted area for all purposes is up 7 per cent from last year at 94 point 1 million acres.
That's the third biggest corn acreage in the U-S since 1944.
Area harvested for grain is an estimated 86 point 6 million acres, also up 7 per cent.
That's the third biggest number for the U-S since 1933.
Soybean planted acreage is estimated at 83 point 7 million acres - up 1 per cent from last year - and a record.
Estimated U-S all wheat planted area is 50 point 8 million acres.
That's down 7 per cent from last year.
