FAO Food Price Index Posts 4.2 Per Cent Increase In June

The index measuring food prices around the world was up in June.

The Food and Agriculture Organisation's Food Price Index was up 4 point 2 per cent from May.

That's the fifth consecutive monthly rise for the index and the largest month-to-month increase in four years.

The FAO says its vegetable oil index was the only one not to post a gain in June.

The FAO Sugar Price Index was up almost 15 per cent, the Dairy Price Index almost 8 per cent, the Cereal Price Index almost 3 per cent and the Meat Price Index was up 2 point 4 per cent.
