A Canadian researcher has been recognized by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization.

Dr. Joyce Boye has been named Special Ambassador for the International Year of Pulses.

Pulse Canada CEO Gordon Bacon hopes the appointment will help increase the country's awareness of the various products and their dietary benefits.

Dr. Boye says she's humbled by the nod and wants to celebrate the diversity of pulses and their addition to food security, health, and sustainability.
