CFFO Comes Out Against the Process to Regulation Changes

The Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario has come out against proposals like the one brought to the Ontario Processing Vegetable Growers.

Spokesperson Suzanne Armstrong says the CFFO has a couple of major concerns about the proposal, including the timing of the proposal, the length of the consultation period, and the amount of information provided.

Armstrong also argues the current system has given Ontario processing vegetable farmers the confidence to invest in their farm businesses based on predictable and fairly negotiated prices.

She says the CFFO hopes the government will recognize the benefits for all involved of a managed marketing system for processing vegetables.

Armstrong says producers see the OPVG as working both for their interests and for the benefit of the industry as a whole.
