There may be something extra sweet coming your way in a familiar fruit.
Ontario Apple Growers say the hot summer and lengthy amounts of sun light is leading into some extra flavour in this year's crop.
The group notes starches in apples change into sugar as sunlight strikes.
Charles Stevens, Chair of the Apple Growers says he's been growing apples for 40 years and has never had any as sweet as this.
The growers also point out the last few crops have suffered from hard spring frosts, but this year had none of that.
Stevens suggests some spots in the province may have slightly smaller apples this fall, depending on how hard hit they were by the summer's drought.
But he adds the August rain has basically caught up most of the crop.
