FCC released its Canadian Agriculture's Productivity and Trade report.
Canada is the world's fifth largest agriculture exporter in 2015 behind the US, China, the Netherlands and Brazil.
The US has almost 15 per cent of global exports worth US$118.7-billion. And America is Canada's largest single agriculture export market taking in 35.4 per cent of Canada exports.
Canada leads the way when it comes to exporting wheat, canola, lentils and canary seed. And only France shipped more cattle in 2015.
Canada was also in the top five exporters in many other categories including oilseeds, soybeans, edible vegetables and hogs.
Farm Credit Canada also points out that while global demand for food is growing, the top exporting countries cannot increase output by just putting more land into production.
In fact, major exporters lost agricultural land as a proportion of their total land base between 1961 and 2013 hence FCC's statement that innovation and technology are keys to future production.
