Statistics Canada says the Farm Product Price Index for September took a 10.5 per cent dip from the same month in 2015.
September was also down 2.5 per cent from August, which dropped 4.2 per cent from July.
StatsCan blames the largest year-over-year decline of 2016 on a 16.7 per cent drop in the livestock and animal products index.
The cattle and calves index was down nearly 29 points on the year.
The hogs index dipped by 14 per cent.
StatsCan credits both to record inventory numbers both here and in the U.S.
The crops index in September was down 4.9 per cent.
The statisticians point out only supply-managed commodity indexes increased on the year.
Dairy was up by 1.6 per cent. Poultry increased by 2 per cent while eggs saw a 1 point bump on the year.
