Young Farmers Get Financial Breaks From Federal Government

Young farmers in Canada got some good news from Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Lawrence MacAulay yesterday.

First the Minister announced an investment of $780,000 will go to 4-H Canada for hosting next year's Global 4-H Network Summit.

CEO of 4-H Canada Shannon Benner says its an honour to host the event, which will help to increase the impact of 4-H by involving youth and leaders in a global conversation.

Minister MacAulay also announced that Farm Credit Canada's Young Farmer Loan will increase the amount of credit available from $500,000 to $1 million.

He says doubling the amount of credit available will be a huge help to new farmers as they get their businesses up and running.

The minimum down payment has also been lowered by FCC to 20 per cent of the value of the loan.
