Huron IPM Team Involving Local Youth In Preparations

Anyone who's ever attended an International Plowing Match knows how good it is to have a place to sit.

The Huron 2017 IPM team is in the process of building 250 benches, and they're incorporating local youth in the process.

Students in construction classes from all five high schools in Huron County, and one from Perth, will help supply the seats at the upcoming rural expo.

Chair of Exhibitors and Bench Co-ordinator Jane Zwep says she's proud to be heading up the project.

She feels the bench represents all that the IPM encompasses -- empowering local youth, leadership and community spirit.

The Huron team believes the hands-on experience will help the students involved learn necessary real-life skills.

Benches can be purchased as a lasting memory for $350.

The bench will then be engraved with a plaque and the name of the purchaser for the match, then given to the owner following the festivities.

More information on purchasing a bench can be obtained by emailing jzwepipm2017@gmail.com, or by calling 519-887-6605.
