Canadian Frozen Meat Stocks Declining

According to Statistics Canada, the amount of frozen and chilled meat in storage at the end of January was down by 5.9 per cent from last year.

The agency reports frozen beef stocks are down by more than 6,000 tonnes, a decrease of 15.6 per cent.

Pork stocks are also down by about 7 per cent, or 5,000 tonnes.

StatsCan notes that mutton and lamb stocks have jumped by 13 and a half per cent to 3,200 tonnes.

Frozen fancy meat stocks are also much higher on the year, increasing by 56.4 per cent to 9,200 tonnes.
