The past chair of the Huron County Milk Committee says Supply Management has faced criticism from the moment it was created in the sixties.
But Ethan Wallace says he believes Supply Management works as well for the consumer and processor as it does for the farmer in providing stable pricing for everyone.
Huron-Bruce M-P Ben Lobb agrees there is some pressure on the system now but points out in the past ten years of trade negotiations Canada has been successful in protecting Supply Management and he hopes that trend will continue under the Liberal government.
Lobb also points out that while the American's are talking about re-negotiating NAFTA, their dispute is with Mexico, not Canada, so there's no need for Canada to give anything away that isn't in our best interests
