Ontario Beef Prices All Up Last Week

Cattle prices in Ontario were up across the board last week.

The Beef Farmers of Ontario report fed steer prices gained $3.72, selling at an average price of $150.18.

Fed heifers saw an up-tick of 42 cents, averaging $148.38.

BFO notes cull cow prices are now within 11 dollars of last year's mark.

Cull cows ended last week at an average of $76.93, having picked up $2.38.

BFO says more than 3,600 stocker and feeder cattle were sold last week and traded actively with prices steady to stronger.

The farmers also point out, for the first time in 2017, Ontario railgrade prices saw some movement.

The average price climbed by 6 and a half dollars and is now about 27 dollars back of prices from this time in 2016.
