Quebec Company Producing Bio-herbicide

A Quebec based company is into the final steps of producing a selective bio-herbicide.

Premier Tech is taking the lead in the manufacturing and commercialization of the project. In January, the Horticulture and Agriculture Group signed a license agreement with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to finalize the development and commercialization of a product formulated from an indigenous fungus.

Over the decade, the federal department invested millions of dollars in research on the fungus and its compounds which can eliminate broadleaved weeds, particularly dandelions.

This discovery has been patented in several countries and is commercially registered in the U.S. and Canada.
